HUTCHINSON, Kan. Hutchinson Director of Public Works, Brian Clennan, says that the city’s stormwater infrastructure is in a bad place.
“We have aging storm water infrastructure. 55% of the storm sewer infrastructure that we have is 50 years or older.”
A plan was created in 2000 for $56 million of flood reduction projects, but nothing has been completed due to a lack of funding.
“We estimated that our existing, in 2014, level of service for the storm water management program on a scale of A to F, was a D minus.”
