Peel Regional Council in Ontario, Canada has endorsed the Region’s Waste Management Infrastructure Development Plan, which outlines how waste processing needs will be addressed through to 2041.
The council explained that current infrastructure includes a Blue Box Material Recycling Facility, three organics composting facilities (for Green Bin and leaf and yard waste materials) and a waste transfer station.
As part of the review Peel’s expected population growth was examined, as well as its planned waste management program changes. It was projected that by 2041 the amount of Green Bin material and the volume of Blue Box material collected will almost double.
